Why is my media displayed pixelated?

A media that appears pixelated on your video wall is a common issue, and it almost always has the same origin: a resolution mismatch between your source media and your screens.

Where the pixelation comes from

Let’s take a simple example. Imagine a video wall made of four Full HD screens (1920 x 1080 pixels each). Assembled together, these four screens form a 4K display surface (3840 x 2160 pixels).

If the media you want to display has an insufficient resolution, the image must be stretched to fill this entire surface. As a result, it appears pixelated or distorted. In short, the original image does not have enough detail to cover the high definition of the wall.

How to fix the problem

The solutions are very simple:

1. Increase the resolution of your media. Choose an image or a video with a definition high enough for your video wall.
2. Or, the other way around, lower the resolution of your screens to bring it closer to that of your media.

The key thing to remember: you must always match the image to the resolution of your screens. This is the only way to avoid stretching and pixelation problems.
