Which hardware should you choose for digital signage?

Setting up a digital signage system does not require exotic hardware. Three components are enough: a computer, screens and software. The only real parameter to size correctly is the PC, depending on the number of screens to drive.

The computer

The configuration scales with the number of screens. Here are three proven tiers.

From 1 to 3 screens

• Graphics card: NVIDIA GTX 1050 or Radeon RX 550
• Storage: 240 GB SSD

From 4 to 5 screens

• Operating system: Windows 10 64-bit
• Processor: Intel Core i5-9600K or AMD Ryzen 7 1800X
• Memory: 16 GB
• Graphics card: NVIDIA GTX 1660 or AMD Radeon RX 580
• Storage: 480 GB SSD

6 screens

• Operating system: Windows 7 / 8.1 / 10 64-bit
• Processor: Intel Core i7-9700K or AMD Ryzen 7 3800X
• Memory: 32 GB
• Graphics card: NVIDIA RTX 1660 or AMD RX VEGA
• Storage: 480 GB SSD

On top of this you will need HDMI cables or a wi-fi system to connect the screens, and possibly a second graphics card for the most demanding configurations.
