Wildfire video detection: fire brigade SDIS 29 on a video wall

The Fire and Rescue Service of Finistere (SDIS 29) has deployed the Easy Multi Display video wall software to manage, among other things, the display of its surveillance camera feeds. A deployment that directly serves the fight against wildfires.

An impressive demonstration in the command center

During a recent visit, Lieutenant-Colonel Pitor of the SDIS 29 presented the capabilities of the system. The cameras used offer a range of up to 8 km, ensuring broad and detailed coverage of the territory. Operators view all the feeds on a video wall driven by Easy Multi Display, for an immediate, training-free overview.

Privacy protection thanks to artificial intelligence

One of the most remarkable aspects of this solution is the use of artificial intelligence to automatically blur homes and other sensitive elements. This feature ensures privacy protection while maintaining effective monitoring of the forest areas.

As the Departmental Council of Finistere recalled, its president Mael de Calan launched the summer 2024 wildfire prevention campaign, alongside the prefect of Finistere Alain Espinasse and Marguerite Lamour, president of the SDIS 29. It was an opportunity to review the resources and prevention tactics and to discover the new wildfire video detection system. In 2022, the Monts d’Arree had been devastated by a large-scale fire; to support the firefighters, the Department redeployed the Morane29 water-bomber helicopter this summer.
